Bassett Wood Farm is located in one of the most scenic villages in Derbyshire. Tissington is famed for its picturesque qualities and beautiful welldressings which are created every year. The village is also host to a wealth of other delights however, which are waiting to be discovered and we have compiled a list of these below.

Tissington Hall
Home of the FitzHerbert family for over 500 years. Guided tours of the hall and gardens must be booked in advance.

Tissington Trekking Centre
Trekking in the beautiful picturesque surroundings of the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales. Located near to Bassett Wood Farm this makes a great day out.

Tissington Well Dressing
Runs for 7 days from Ascension Day each year, with 6 wells dressed around the village.

On a Wick And a Prayer, Candle workshop
Home made Original Candles.
Open Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays from 11.00am to 3.00pm.

Tissington Nursery
Grow an interesting range of herbaceous perennial, shrubs, climbers and alpines which can be seen in the old kitchen gardens behind the village pond.

A highly rated shop, selling a wonderful variety of tasteful and unusual gifts – perfect for Christmas shopping!

Tissington Trail
The Tissington trail begins North of Ashbourne, at Mapleton Lane. This starting point has a good range of facilities, including a cycle hire shop, and refreshments. There is a car park here although it can get very busy in the Summer months.

The Bluebell Inn
The Award winning Bluebell has achieved a reputation for delicious cuisine. As the majority of the dishes are home-made. We guarantee fresh, local (where available) and high quality ingredients. We now cater for most dietary needs, and believe our generous portions provide good value for money. Open from 12 noon til 11pm & serve food from 12 noon until 9pm (8.30pm Sundays).

Alton Towers Theme Park , Oakamoor, Stoke
Alton Towers is proberly the best Theme Park in the UK, with teeth grinding rides such as Oblivion (The world's first VERTICAL roller coaster), Nemesis and Submission. Staying literally on the doorstep of this incredible amusement park is too finer opportunity to miss.

Heights of Abraham, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire
Explore the caves at the Heights of Abraham, Matlock, Derby. This former spa town is now home to cable cars, caverns and a hilltop park.

The cable car ticket includes tours down 2 great caverns, the 'Miner's Tale', all the attractions in the grounds and more.
Gulliver's Kingdom, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire
Family theme park with many rides and attractions aimed at 3-13 year olds, including log flume, chair lift, and some new attractions too.
Poole's Caverne, Green Lane, Buxton
Poole’s Cavern, opened to the public in 1853, has a long and diverse history, with its first visitors arriving more than 5000 years ago when prehistoric man sheltered here in the entrance to the cavern. More recently, archaeological excavations in the 1980s have discovered around 4000 ancient remains in the Roman Chamber.
Chestnut Centre, Chapel-en-le-Frith, High Peak, Derbyshire
Set on a steep hillside in Derbyshire, the Chestnut centre is the only place in Britain to see Giant Brazilian otters. The otter enclosures, also including native British, American river and Asian short-clawed, are at the bottom of the hill in a very attractive wooded valley. The enclosures themselves are all of a good size with room for the otters but great views for the visitors. Also down there are red squirrels and a collection of owls
Chatsworth House and Park, Edensor, Derbyshire
Perhaps surprisingly, this splendid estate has almost as much appeal for children as it has for adults. Attractions include: adventure playground, lovely gardens and parkland, farmyard, restaurant, garden centre and farm shop.

Peveril Castle, Castleton
One of the most dramatic places in Derbyshire to visit is Peveril Castle.Dramatic ruined Norman castle with breathtaking views.The great square tower stands almost to its original height.

Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Derbyshire
Built over 600 years ago, a magical old manor house which has escaped the ravages of time. Film location for “Jane Eyre” and “The Prince and the Pauper”.
The Peak District
The Peak District, straddles Derbyshire and Staffordshire, and has its own treasures to explore, although a lot of the area was industrialised in times past.

Among the places to visit is Dove Dale which derives it's name from the River Dove that passes through the valley of wooded slopes and limestone outcrops.
